This bit can be clipped onto the three D's of the headcollar, and the U shaped mouth digs into the tongue if the horse tries to rear. Not a kind bit, as it is thin and therefore very sharp. Needs to be used carefully.  Also you could purchase a bradoon strap to put this onto.

Designed to prevent a young horse rearing while being lead in hand.
