Bates Pony Saddle a pony saddle specially developed to give young riders a very comfortable and supportive seat for confidence in the saddle whether training, doing some jumping, or pleasure riding. The Bates Pony Saddle features the latest in world class saddle design and technology, never previously seen in pony saddles.

The CAIR® Cushion System replaces traditional fillings in your saddle with air cushions. CAIR® air cushion technology provides significant performance advantages in the way it distributes the rider's weight and cushions the horse's back.

Distributes the rider's weight: Under the rider's weight the air cushions continually mould to mirror the horse's individual conformation and working muscles. This ensures a close, even contact over a much larger weight bearing area and eliminates instances of pressure points.

Cushioning the horse's back: The dynamic nature of air ensures it works in synergy with the horse's muscles, rather than the horse's muscles working against a static medium. Additionally, air provides the ultimate shock absorption, reducing instances of trauma to the horse's muscles in work.

Your horse will show a marked improvement in its freedom of movement, expression and self carriage, as the CAIR® Cushion ensures its absolute comfort.

The EASY-CHANGE® Fit Solution puts your horse's comfort first. Enjoy the peace of mind in knowing that your saddle offers full adjustability and is able to meet the changing needs of your horse

HERITAGE LEATHER

Heritage leather upholds the traditional European practices of natural oil and wax tannage. The high oil and wax content of this performance leather ensures optimum suppleness and enhanced rider grip.

Characteristic of the finest natural leather, the leather is heavily pre-oiled with visible shade variations, often being referred to as a ‘pull up’ leather with a traditional, if not distressed aesthetic. The depth of colour is dependent on the infused oil content within the fibres of each particular hide. The distinctive tones of colour are particularly visible when the leather is bent as the colour lightens returning over time to its original colour as the oils migrate back through into the fibres.

Caring for Heritage Leather
The natural surface of the leather is more easily prone to scratch or marks however this can easily be removed by simply rubbing or buffing the leather in the area to draw the oils back to the area replenishing the surface.

Due to the high level of oils within the leather the correct level of care is still important to ensure the surface is protected against wear, water and sweat. In high wear areas the leather will darken over time ensuring an aged rich patina.

Caring for your Bates saddle
Leather is a natural product and as such any marks, scars or colour variations within the leather are not a fault and add to the individual character of your Bates saddle.

Proper care is crucial to maximising the performance of your Bates saddle as its life is reliant on maintaining a certain level of moisture in the leather. Your saddle should be regularly cleaned, using glycerin saddle soap and a damp cloth or sponge to remove dirt, which may otherwise scratch the surface. Cleaning should always be followed with a rich, wax-based dressing, such as Bates Leather Balsam. We do not recommend the use of oil on your saddle.

PRIOR to riding in your new saddle, it is recommended that you liberally dress your saddle with Bates Leather Balsam, allowing it to soak in overnight. The overnight process ensures maximum
penetration into the leather, helping to seal in the moisture and protect your saddle. Bates Leather Cream can also be used to replenish and rejuvenate the moisture content in your saddle,
however a leather balsam penetrates deeper into the leather and offers a surface barrier, protecting against wear, water and sweat.

Apply your leather balsam or cream heavily in high wear areas, such as the top of the saddle flap where the stirrup leathers will rub. You may apply your dressing to all areas of your saddle including the padded inserts and girth straps. Treated in this manner, you will achieve the traditional, rich patina of aged worked leather and can expect years of excellent service from your saddle.
